Payroll Clerk
The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Payroll Clerk in the Financial Services Department.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Treasurer & Manager Financial Services, the Payroll Clerk is responsible for the preparation and processing of payroll ensuring that the full payroll cycle is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with applicable legislation, corporate policies and collective agreements. The Payroll Clerk also completes activities relating to pension administration, remittances, account reconciliations, reporting and other accounting duties.
Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidate will have a College Diploma in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance), or related field combined with payroll function experience preferably in municipal finance. A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (CPC) certification through the Candidan Payroll Association is considered an asset. The preferred candidate will have a detailed knowledge of payroll processing in a computerized, union environment combined with the knowledge of, and experience with, accounting methods and practices. Candidates with experience in implementation of a HRIS system as Payroll Subject Matter Expert is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will document workflows, develop detailed work instructions and training resources for end users with respect to the payroll component.
The ideal candidate will have advanced-level computer and technical skills, particularly with financial system software and the Microsoft Office Suite. Candidates must have the ability to understand, interpret and apply legislation, rules and collective agreements as applicable to Municipal payroll operations. In addition, the ideal candidate will have outstanding organizational skills; the ability to work independently and excellent communication skills. Previous experience with Dayforce, Vadim iCity Enterprise financial software, RAC Software Inc., FMW Web software is considered an asset.

Salary
The Town offers an hourly rate of $38.28 (2024 – Collective Bargaining in progress), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.2. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
This vacancy is open due to a resignation and the department will be undergoing a Service Review. The position description including qualifications may change based on the results of the review.
